The City of Lordsburg Gas Department, (CLGD), is not responsible for maintaining any gas service line piping downstream of the gas meter, underground or otherwise. If you have underground gas service line piping after the gas meter serving your property, including outbuildings and rentals, you should have this gas piping periodically checked for leaks and/or corrosion. Any problems with these types of gas facilities may cause hazardous conditions and should be promptly repaired. CLGD will not provide a gas service using any piping found to be in an unsafe condition.
CLGD may perform this work only under a written/signed agreement with the property/building owner. The agreement will include an initial estimate of cost for services, and the property/building owner will be responsible for payment of the actual time and materials cost after work completion. CLGD will also refer you to licensed local plumbing or heating contractors who can assist in locating, inspecting, and repairing your buried gas service line piping, gas appliances, and other gas facilities.
In addition, whenever you plan to excavate near buried gas piping, utility locating should be requested by calling the New Mexico One-Call Service at 1-800-321-2537 or 811.
